What is ERCES?

ERCES (Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System) is a system designed to improve in-building radio communication for first responders, such as firefighters, police, and emergency medical personnel.

Boosts Radio Signals:

Ensures reliable two-way radio communication inside buildings, especially in areas where signals are weak due to thick walls, underground levels, or structural interference

Required by Code:

Many jurisdictions, including those following the International Fire Code (IFC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 1221 & 72), mandate ERCES in new and existing buildings.

Consists of:

  • Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA): Strengthens signals in weak coverage areas.
  • Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS): Enhances coverage throughout the building.
